The lighthouse was built in 1857 and was lit in 1860. You can see the lighthouse from pointe de Pen al Lann. The lighthouse keeper’s accommodation is for rent. For further information about renting the house you have to contact the tourist center in Carantec.

In 1845 a first light was placed in the church off Plouguerneau. The light wasn’t always visible because it stood so far from the coast. So a new lighthouse is built in 1868. In 1959 the upper part was painted in red.

The first lighthouse was built in 1845 at the same time as Aber Wrac’h. Because the first lighthouse wasn’t sufficient enough they built a second one in 1897. In 1952 a fog horn was placed at the first lighthouse. The current lighthouse is the tallest in Europe. The lighthouse can be visited from April until September by boat.

Stiff Lighthouse

The lighthouse was built in 1699 and lit a year later. In 1717 the lantern was damaged and repaired in 1720. In 1978 a radar tower was built to further the navigational aids around these dangerous waters. The light was made electric in 1957 and automated in 1999. Stiff lighthouse is open to the public in July and August every day from 10:30-12:00 and from 14:00-17:30. Outside this period it is best to contact the office for tourism.

Creac'h Lighthouse

Creac’h was built 164 years later on the other side of the island. The lighthouse is in use since 1863. It is the most powerful one in Europe. In 1867 a fog horn was placed on it. The museum of “Phares et Balises” is located in the buildings and is open to the public.
